Clearwater Central Catholic had signing a ceremony for four seniors who helped the football program set a school record for wins (11) and advance to the Class 3A state semifinals this past season.
The biggest name who signed was defensive back Mike Stevenson, who is going to Wake Forest. Stevenson had wavered between the Deamon Deacons and USF before making up his decision in December.
“Wake Forest is a great school, and they stayed with me the whole time,” Stevenson said.
For the past month, it appeared as if Stevenson would be the only one from CCC signing on Wednesday. But a late rush added three more to the list.
Defensive back Calvin Pringles and defensive end Jordan Adderley both signed with Fairmont State after committing to the school on Wednesday.
“It’s a dream to always sign on this day,” Adderley said.
“I feel like a giant weight has lifted off my shoulders,” Pringles said.
Trey Larry, a wide receiver/defensive back, signed with Garden City Community College. He didn’t decide until Tuesday.
