Clearwater Central Catholic hired Frank Seidl to take over the boys soccer program.
Seidl replaces Jim Harte, who left after 25 seasons to become the coach at Carrollwood Day.
Seidl graduated from CCC in 1982 and played on the '81 state championship team. He coached the Clearwater Chargers club team for 20 years and was a Florida State Olympic Development Program coach for 15 years. In 2010, Seidl was the interim coach of the Marauders’ girls soccer team.
“I am honored and feel blessed to have the opportunity to coach in such a tradition-rich program, especially one that has been in my heart since graduating and the memories of being a player on the team that won their first soccer state championship,” Seidl said in a release. “I am very excited about being a part of the student-athlete environment at CCC.”
Seidl has a tough job following Harte, who won six of CCC’s state-record nine state titles as coach.
“(Seidl) has the successful experience to continue to build upon the great success of our boys soccer program as well as a history in the rich tradition of Marauder soccer,” athletic director Keith Galley said in the release.
