Clearwater Central Catholic, moving quickly to find a new football coach, will start to whittle down the list of 133 applicants and interview finalists this week, athletic director Keith Galley said.
The Marauders have been without a coach since Dec. 11, when Mike Jalazo was fired after eight seasons.
The school posted the position on the Florida High School Athletic Association Web site on Dec. 14 and stopped accepting applications last week. Galley said school administrators declined to released the names of the applicants to the Times.
"We would like to have a coach in here as soon as possible," Galley said. "We hope that will happen within the next two weeks."
