Clearwater Central Catholic quarterback/wide receiver Blake Gomez committed to Catholic University, a Division III school in Washington, D.C.

Gomez started last season as a quarterback for the Marauders before switching to receiver. He finished with 15 catches for 180 yards and a touchdown. His best game was in the Class 3A state final, in which he had a team-high six receptions for 38 yards.

Gomez has a 4.0 unweighted GPA and was looking at several Ivy League schools before deciding on Catholic University.

“Blake will play receiver and he got a real nice deal to go to Catholic,” CCC coach John Davis said. “I’m glad it worked out for him because he deserves it.”

The Marauders now have eight players from the Class of 2014 who have committed to play in college.
