Clearwater Central Catholic linebacker Ethan Thompson, who ranked among the county's leading tacklers the past two years, committed to Black Hills State, a Division II school in Spearfish, S.D.

"I was sold on the head coach, the town, the area that it's around and the people I met and talked to," Thompson said.

This past season, Thompson recorded 128 tackles and had two sacks and two interceptions to help lead the Marauders to the Class 3A state championship game.

He is the fifth CCC player from the 2014 class to commit to a college, joining Caanan Brown (Virginia), Conner Dorris (Navy), Justus Reed (Florida) and Diquan Walker (Holy Cross).
