CCC's Leston denied appeal

Clearwater Central Catholic receiver Brandon Leston's  appeal to regain his eligibility was denied by a 3-2 vote during a Florida High School Athletic Association section meeting in Bartow last week.

Leston, who also plays basketball, transferred from Clearwater to CCC this summer. He sat out the preseason game two weeks ago pending an appeal after he was ruled ineligible because he participated in an offseason workout with the Marauders' basketball team this summer.

Last year, Leston was a key member of the Tornadoes' basketball team that reached the Class 5A region final.

Leston can still appeal the decision to the FHSAA board within the next few weeks.
