Clearwater Central Catholic pitcher David Paul and leftfielder Derek Gibree made verbal commitments to different colleges on Wednesday.

Paul, the Times' Pitcher of the Year, committed to Iona College in New Rochelle, N.Y. Gibree chose Saint Leo University.

Paul had a junior season to remember. He was 11-1 with a 1.37 ERA and 92 strikeouts in 81.2 innings. He helped lead the Marauders to the Class 3A state semifinals. Paul also hit .403 and played first base when he wasn't pitching.

Gibree led the Marauders with a .420 average and played well in the outfield. Both are seniors in 2013.
