Ryan Orr, the Times' Pinellas County Golfer of the Year, has orally committed to the University of Florida. Orr, a rising senior at Clearwater Central Catholic, had a 37.8 nine hole scoring average last season and won the Class A regional tournament.

He has had a very good summer. He won the American Junior Golf Association’s Florida Junior Championship on June 21 at Weston Hills Country Club. He made it through a qualifying tournament at Lake Wales CC and earned a spot in the USGA Junior Amateur Championship in New Hampshire. And he tied for third at the Florida State Golf Association’s Junior championships at Sawgrass CC in Ponte Vedra Beach on July 10.

At the USGA Junior Amateur on Monday, Orr shot a 4-over 76 and is tied for 71st.
