After receiving overtures from some NAIA and Division I-AA programs, Carrollwood Day three-sport standout Darius Bing has settled on Division II Quincy (Ill.) University.
Patriots coach Lane McLaughlin confirmed Bing's commitment late Thursday night. Bing (5-foot-5, 160 pounds), who totaled more than 1,400 yards and 99 tackles last season for the Patriots, also had an offer from NAIA Olivet-Nazarene and generated interest from Florida A&M.
He becomes the third player from Carrollwood Day -- entering only its third season of 11-man football -- to hook up with a program at the next level.
Quarterback Billy Embody has received a full academic ride to SMU and will join the Mustangs as a walk-on. Two-way star Matt Monteilh will play next season at the New Mexico Military Institute, then enroll at the Coast Guard Academy.
