Carrollwood Day senior Matt Monteilh, the Patriots' leading receiver the last two seasons, has been accepted to a military prep school with the intention of enrolling in the Coast Guard Academy in 2011.

Patriots coach Lane McLaughlin said Monteilh (26 catches, 500 yards, eight TDs in 2009) will spend an all expenses-paid school year at New Mexico Military Institute, which plays a junior college schedule. If he earns a GPA of 2.4 or better, he'll automatically be enrolled at the Coast Guard.

"It's going to cost him zero to go to college and he's going to come out of the Coast Guard Academy as an officer," McLaughlin said.

Monteilh (5-foot-5, 170 pounds) who had been courted by several small colleges including Birmingham Southern and Widener, played both ways for the Patriots. His final two prep seasons, he collected 74 receptions for nearly 1,250 yards.
