Central coach Mike Einspahr out after four seasons

Central is looking for a new football coach. The school posted the position on  the Florida High School Athletic Association web site Wednesday.

Athletic director Al Sorrentino said Thursday morning that he and current coach Mike Einspahr talked last week and agreed that the program needs to go in a different direction. The Bears have not won a game since September 2012 (28-17 over Wildwood). In four seasons at Central, Einspahr compiled a 4-36 record.

The Bears moved into a brutal Class 5A-6 district this season, with annual powers South Sumter and Pasco, and were outscored 379-102. Central last made the postseason in 2006.

Einspahr, who came to Brooksville from Kansas, is also an ESE teacher at Central, and Sorrentino said that position isn't affected by his decision to stop coaching.

Central is looking for someone with previous head coaching experience, Sorrentino said, who is also a strong disciplinarian. He said he hopes to find someone with energy who can persuade more students to try out for football.

"Someone who can get this program moving forward," he said.
