Central's Raqurra Ishmar and Tikiera Relaford to join forces at FIU

Fresh off their title-winning performances at Friday's Class 3A state track and field meet, Central seniors Raqurra Ishmar and Tikiera Relaford have orally committed to Florida International University.

Ishmar won two gold medals at the state meet. Her toss of 44 feet in the shot put was 2 feet, 2 inches better than her nearest competitor. In the discus, Ishmar grabbed first by 4 inches after clearing 131 feet.

Relaford successfully defended her state title in the high jump after leaping 5 feet, 8 inches at Friday's state meet and winning by two inches.

The pair will sign with FIU in a ceremony at Central High on May 19.
