Chamberlain softball standout Izzy Ordorica commits to UCLA

Chamberlain junior softball standout Izzy Ordorica, who transferred from Plant after being accepted into Chamberlain's Advanced-Placement Scholars program in May, has committed to UCLA, her mother announced in a news release.

A .286 hitter who hit two home runs, drew a team-best 15 walks and committed only four errors as a Panthers sophomore last season, Ordorica has played for the nationally decorated Tampa Mustangs travel team since age 9. She'll join a program that won the Class 7A state title in May.

A straight-A student throughout her academic life, Ordorica maintains a 5.28 weighted GPA, her mom said. She began taking lessons from former UCLA all-American Lyndsey Klein at Bayshore Little League at age 10, and has dreamed of playing for the Bruins.
