Chamberlain TB Xavier Johnson, who committed to the University of South Alabama last summer before softening and reconsidering other schools, said Friday he'll definitely sign with the Jaguars next month.

Johnson, who has totaled 2,500 rushing yards the past two seasons, also seriously considered Toledo and Florida Atlantic at various points during the fall. He'll make his official visit to USA on Jan. 18.

The Chiefs' every-down workhorse as a junior, Johnson (5-foot-9, 170 pounds) ran for 1,736 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2011. The following spring, he qualified for the Class 3A state track meet in the 200-meter dash.

His numbers tapered off last fall (102 carries, 763 yards, 10 TDs) as the Chiefs' backfield depth and win total (4-6) increased.
