Former Hernando standout Christian Arroyo’s first summer of pro baseball included another award for his trophy case.

The shortstop was named the MVP of the rookie-ball Arizona League late last week. Arroyo, the No. 25 overall pick by the Giants this June, batted .326 with 18 doubles while knocking in 39 runs.

Some other North Suncoast alumni updates:

Former Pasco star Trey Dudley-Giles gained 104 yards on four kickoffs in UMass’ 45-0 loss at No. 23 Wisconsin. The sophomore defensive back also assisted on two tackles.

Wesley Chapel alum Greg Jenkins was officially added to the Raiders’ practice squad Monday. Oakland cut the rookie receiver last week.

I haven’t seen whether anyone picked up Pasco alum Josh Johnson, a cornerback out of Purdue, who didn’t survive the final roster cuts with the Chargers.

Comment below if I've missed anyone of note.
