Clapp named new Gators softball coach

Land O'Lakes assistant John Clapp has been promoted to head softball coach, Gators athletic director Karen Coss announced Monday morning in an e-mail.

Clapp has served as JV coach for the last nine seasons, and Coss said he "built a great relationship" with his players.

Clapp also took over as girls golf coach in August.

He replaces Jamie Martin, who resigned as softball coach but continues to coach girls weightlifting for the Gators.
