File this under the "In case you missed it'' category. Clearwater's volleyball team defeated East Lake Thursday night, 20-25, 25-22, 25-21, 25-17, 15-10. It's the first time East Lake lost to a county team since Sept. 2, 2010, when it lost to Palm Harbor University. It's also only the fourth loss in two-plus seasons for the Eagles. East Lake is the Class 8A two-time defending state champion.
According to coach Kara Betourne, the Tornadoes were led by Sara Myslicki, Sam Reeves, Haley Barrett and Darby Oakes. It was Clearwater's opening game of the season.
