Clearwater's Alexiou chosen Florida Dairy Farmers swimmer of year

Clearwater senior Nick Alexiou is the Florida Dairy Farmers boys swimmer of the year.

Alexiou, the Class 3A swimmer of the year, won a pair of state titles last month in the 200- and 500-yard freestyle. He was the only county athlete to win multiple titles in individual events in Orlando. His time in the 200 free (1:36.27) was just .46 of a second off the state record.

Alexiou has signed with Virginia.
