Clearwater point guard Cory Carden has committed to Brewton-Parker College, an NAIA school in Mount Vernon, Ga. He will sign later this week, said Tornadoes coach Allen Carden, Cory's father.

Cory played the past two seasons at Clearwater after transferring from Pinellas Park. He led the Tornadoes to the Class 5A state championship game in 2009 and a region final appearance this season. In his career, Cory is 108-21 with three conference and three district titles.

"Those are some pretty big team numbers for any athlete," Allen Carden said. "Cory was the consummate team guy."

Cory had other offers, but decided on Brewton-Parker because of the chance to play right away.

"Cory was the only point guard (Brewton-Parker) was recruiting," Allen Carden said. "He is going to come in and they are going to hand him the ball. I'm excited for him, not only as a coach, but also as a parent."

Two other Tornadoes, Kevin Ciezczak and Matt O'Donnell, are scheduled to make recruiting trips, Carden said. Ciezczak is visiting Trinity International in Chicago in two weeks and O'Donnell is going to West Florida this weekend.
