Melanie Margalis, the Class 3A defending state champion in the 200 individual medley, decided this week to attend Georgia. Margalis, a senior at Countryside, picked the Bulldogs over Florida and Texas.

"Georgia was pretty much where I was leaning all along," Margalis said.

The choice was an easy one for Margalis. Her brother, Robert, swam for the Bulldogs before becoming an Olympic alternate. She will join former Northeast standout Megan Romano and Tampa Prep star Chelsea Nauta at Georgia.
