Countryside running back/receiver Joey Lombardi will be part of Ave Maria's first recruiting class after committing to the NAIA school last week, Cougars coach Jared Davis said.

Ave Maria, a Catholic school in Ave Maria, FL, (near Naples), will make its football debut this fall.

Lombardi was a versatile offensive weapon for the Cougars last season, rushing for 227 yards and catching 14 passes for 151 yards.
