Mike Love, Countryside (6-foot-4, 205 pounds)

The latest: Love was offered by Mississippi State on Friday according to a text message from Cougars coach Jared Davis. The Bulldogs are the first from the SEC to offer Love and it comes three days after Love got an offer from NC State, his first from an ACC school.

Offers: Alabama-Birmingham, Iowa State, Louisville, Massachusetts, Mississippi State, NC State and Ohio.

Last season: The Times’ defensive player of the year for Pinellas County, Love registered 15.5 sacks as a defensive end and helped the Cougars go undefeated in the regular season for the second straight year.

They say: None of the recruiting services has Love ranked as a prospect but that could change now that he is picking up offers in major conferences such as the ACC and SEC.
