East Bay right-handed pitcher Kayla Cox, who posted a 0.19 ERA while leading the Indians to the Class 5A state title, finished third in voting for the 2010 Florida Dairy Farmers Miss Softball award.
Dunnellon pitcher/third baseman Kasey Fagan, who posted staggering offensive (.574, eight home runs) and pitching (26-1, 0.57 ERA) totals while guiding the Tigers to the 4A crown, won the award. Miami Gulliver Prep's Sara Buchholz, the 3A player of the year, finished second.
Indians coach Glenn Rodriguez was runner-up for the state's coach of the year honors, finishing behind Fagan's dad, Kevin.
The Miss Softball and coach of the year awards were voted on by a statewide panel of coaches and media representatives.
