Lakewood star defensive end Dante Fowler had his three-game suspension reduced to one game Friday by the Florida High School Athletic Association, coach Cory Moore said.
Lakewood had appealed the decision last week to sit Fowler for three games after he and Boca Ciega quarterback Shaquille Bradford had an altercation during the Spartans 14-13 victory.
Bradford was suspended one game, tonight against winless Leto.
Fowler, one of the top-rated junior prospects in the country, will miss tonight's game against Dixie Hollins.
Under the original suspension, Fowler would have missed next week's game against Countryside -- denying a fans a chance to see what could be one of the top match-ups in Pinellas County this season when the Spartan pass rusher possibly goes head-to-head with the county's No. 1 recruit Tyler Moore -- but more importantly he would have missed a district game against favorite Jefferson.
Asked how big the decision was for Lakewood, Moore said "I think you know the answer to that.''
