David Emmanuel, Pasco RB (6-foot, 180 pounds)

The latest: Emmanuel and teammate Janarion Grant are planning a recruiting visit to Rutgers later this month, Emmanuel said Wednesday after practice. “That’s the school I’m really looking at now,” Emmanuel said.

The Scarlet Knights are sending Emmanuel photos with him in a Rutgers uniform. “I like how they’re doing it,” Emmanuel said.

Emmanuel is also receiving more interest from Memphis, Indiana, Kentucky and Georgia Southern.

Also Wednesday, Pasco DL Joey Ivie reaffirmed his commitment to Florida. He said the recent resignation of Gators recruiting coordinator Aubrey Hill doesn’t change his verbal pledge to UF.

Offers: Rutgers, FAU

Last season: Emmanuel was Pasco County’s leading rusher with 1,325 yards and 19 touchdowns while averaging 10 yards per carry. He also caught two touchdown passes and scored once on special teams. Scout.com ranks Emmanuel as a two-star prospect.

Bottom line: Emmanuel doesn’t have blazing speed, but he’s one of Tampa Bay’s most powerful runners. He was a first-team all-North Suncoast and all-Suncoast selection by the Times last season. With the departure of QB Jacob Guy, Pasco figures to run the ball more this fall, so expect even bigger production from Emmanuel this fall.
