CLEARWATER -- Heralded Countryside junior OT Tyler Moore knows where he wants to play college football.
Sometime soon, he’ll tell us his choice.
“He’s definitely made up his mind where he’s going,” said Moore’s father, Brian. “I think he’s finally ready to announce. It’s coming very soon. Probably this weekend or within the next week or so.”
Moore has two finalists -- Nebraska and Florida.
Nebraska is the leader. His father and several other relatives played for the Cornhuskers, which certainly hasn’t hurt the program in its recruitment of Tyler.
Nebraska offensive line coach Barney Cotton is expected to attend Countryside’s game this week at Clearwater.
The Gators have made a strong push after a slow start. Moore never seriously considered the program until attending a camp at Florida during the summer.
The 6-foot-6, 290-pound tackle also has scholarship offers from schools such as Clemson, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Tennessee and West Virginia. Additionally, Georgia has told him an offer is there if he wants it, Brian Moore said.
“A verbal commitment isn’t set in stone, but part of the reason for doing this (so early) is to be courteous to the other schools,” Brian Moore said. “We kind of feel bad. We don’t want to string these guys long.”
