DOVER — The Brandon girls and Armwood boys won the team titles at Tuesday afternoon’s Class 3A, District 9 cross country meet.

Brandon freshman Eliana Ochoa smoked the field in 20:54, a full 2:22 ahead of runnerup and teammate Victoria Prenatt. The Eagles’ Guadalupe Espinoza-Martinez was third.

Strawberry Crest’s girls came in second, paced by Christina Cauthen’s fourth-place time of 23:58; the Chargers’ top five runners were all in the top 15. East Bay, which had Hannah Yates and Aomori Allen finish in the top eight, was third.

Bradenton Bayshore junior Canaan Meester-Kitterman (17:04) won the boys race by nearly a minute. Battling each other to the finish line in a mad sprint were Armwood’s Mohammed Tamari (second, 17:59) and Jacob Rivera (18:00).

Brandon’s boys finished three points ahead of Strawberry Crest for second. Generio White (fourth, 18:05) and Eric Fiske (sixth, 18:09) helped the Eagles nab the runnerup result.
