Tampa Catholic QB DJ Williams is in a weird spot.

He’s a backup to all-world performer Christian Green. And he’s also a senior.
That means his snaps under center are limited.

And that makes it tough to catch the eyes of colleges.

“He gets a little frustrated,” DJ’s famous father, former Bucs QB Doug Williams, said Sunday. “My job is to keep his head up.”

According to the elder Williams, DJ, who is 6-foot-3, 185 pounds, camped at both LSU and Tennessee last summer and performed well. But because of his lack of experience his father said DJ is about a year behind in his development.

“He’s a late maturing guy, but I think by the end of the year he’ll get some interest,” Doug Williams said.

Junior college is not an option. But prep school is.

“We’ve talked about that,” Doug Williams said. “We’re going to let everything play out.”
