A year ago, standout Dunedin RB Adaris Bellamy signed with USF.
Today, the odds look good that he’ll end up playing for Cincinnati.
“He will be tripping there this weekend and unless something drastic happens he will sign this weekend with UC,” Dunedin coach Mark Everett said in an email Monday to the Times.
Times USF reporter Greg Auman has been all over this story.
On his blog Monday, he noted the following:
-Bellamy signed with USF last year but did not qualify academically, and the Bulls placed him at Fork Union Military Academy in Virginia. Bellamy raised his grade-point average and test scores enough in one semester there that has been cleared by the NCAA Clearinghouse, Everett said. But …
-Bellamy was recently told there were no scholarships available for him with the Bulls.
-Bellamy was a four-star recruit when he signed with USF in 2009, but the Bulls have at least seven scholarship running backs returning this fall, with three other backs committed to sign Wednesday.
