Ben Emery has made a full recovery from lymphoma, playing every game as a catcher for Dunedin the past two seasons.

Now, Emery will continue to play baseball as a preferred walk-on at Miami.

In June 2010, Emery was diagnosed with Burkitt’s lymphoma, a rare form of aggressive non-Hodgkin’s that commonly affects children but also is one of the most curable forms. After four months of chemotherapy that ended in October 2010, Emery was cleared to play.

He is a four-year starter for the Falcons and a captain this season. He has a career batting average that is more than .320. This year Emery is tied for the team lead with a .507 on base average. He also has a 4.59 GPA.
