Kieran Pettus, a defensive lineman and captain of East Bay's football team, will be a preferred walk-on at USF, Indians coach Frank Larosa announced Friday.
Pettus (6-foot-3, 225 pounds) recorded 62 total tackles for an average a 6.2 per game for East Bay (4-7) and added an interception, fumble recovery and team-highs of 6.5 sacks, four caused fumbles and two blocked field goals .
Pettus was also a starter on East Bay's basketball team and was chosen by Hillsborough County as the Indians male scholar-athlete of the year.
