East Lake receiver Artavis Scott will be monitored this week and could be a game-time decision for Friday’s big showdown against Countryside after suffering what could be a grade 1 ankle sprain in the season opener.

Scott injured his left foot on a run up the middle in the second half of the Eagles victory over Clearwater Central Catholic. He exited on his own power but was favoring it the rest of the game. Scott, who said he turned it awkwardly, didn't seem concerned afterward.

East Lake coach Bob Hudson said he anticipates Scott playing but that decision will depend on how Hudson’s star receiver responds in practice.

“This is really the first time that Artavis has ever been injured,” Hudson said. “We’ll monitor him and see how he does in practice. I’m not afraid of sitting him this week if he’s not ready. We have a few weeks before we play district games, and I need him in those games when it matters.”
