East Lake DE Bobby Lyons, one of the key players on one of the area’s best defenses, received his first major offer when Army pulled the trigger this week.

“He’s pretty excited,” Eagles coach Bob Hudson said.

The 6-foot-5, 220-pound Lyons is a two-year starter.

East Lake (7-3) has allowed only 111 points this season, and Lyons has been a big reason for that success. Not only is he a sound pass rusher, but he’s excellent against the run.

Lyons projects as a DE in college.

“He works hard and plays hard,” Hudson said. “He keeps getting better every week.”

Army is one of college football’s most storied programs.

The Black Knights have three national championships, three Heisman Trophy winners, and 26 Hall of Fame members on their all-time roster.

“West Point is West Point,” Hudson said.
