Plant DB Eric Dungy, reached by phone at a Minnesota airport tonight during a brief layover, said his official visit to Oregon this weekend went well and added that the Ducks are very much in the mix.
“The trip was fun,” Dungy said. “They’ve got a legitimate shot.”
The 6-foot-2, 185-pound standout also is considering FSU, South Florida, Louisville and New Mexico.
Dungy said he will begin sorting things out Monday.
“I still don’t know (who’s the leader),” he said. “Basically, it’s still everybody. I’ve got to talk with (Plant coach Robert) Weiner. We’ll see how the meeting goes with dad and coach.”
Dungy is hopeful he will sign a letter-of-intent with a team Wednesday, which is National Signing Day.
Dungy was accompanied on his trip to Oregon by his father, legendary NFL coach Tony Dungy. In addition to attending an Oregon basketball game, the two got a first-hand look at the Ducks’ facilities, which are considered to be among the country’s finest.
“They definitely lived up to the hype,” Eric Dungy said. “Even the academic stuff was top notch. It definitely was second to none.”
