Former Tampa Bay Buccaneers OL Cosey Coleman, a starting guard in Super Bowl XXXVII, has been hired by Alonso coach Brian Emanuel as a Ravens assistant line coach.
Emanuel announced the hiring Thursday night. Coleman, a former All-American at Tennessee and member of the Vols' 1998 national title team, spent parts of seven seasons in the NFL. A Westchase resident, he coached at Middleton last season.
"Cosey lives close to Alonso and he had options elsewhere but had heard about the good work we are doing and wanted to be a part of Alonso football," Emanuel said in a text message to the Times. "I look forward to him being an integral part of my staff as a helper to o-line coach Greg Callahan."
Emanuel's dad, Frank, was an All-America linebacker at Tennessee and is a member of the school's athletic hall of fame.
