Former Spoto WR Geronimo Allison, who helped lead Iowa Western Community College to a juco national title last year, has committed to the University of Illinois.

Spoto coach Dale Caparaso said Allison will play another season for Iowa Western, then enroll at Illinois in January. He is on schedule to receive his AA degree in December, Caparaso said.

As a Reivers freshman last season, Allison (6-foot-4, 180 pounds) caught 26 passes for 428 yards and two touchdowns. He enters the 2013 season as the Reivers' top returning receiver.

Academically ineligible at Spoto as a sophomore and junior, Allison had a breakthrough senior season in 2011, recording 26 catches for 567 yards and four TDs, and collecting 47 tackles on defense.
