Lakewood girls basketball coach Necole Tunsil and Jesuit boys basketball coach Neal Goldman have been named 5A coaches of the year by the Florida Association of Basketball Coaches.

A banquet will be held April 28 at Tampa Prep to honor the coaches.

Tunsil led Lakewood to a 24-7 season and the 5A state final game against Fort Lauderdale Dillard. The Spartans fell short of a state championship in a 57-41 loss. Tunsil was the only girls coach from the Tampa Bay area to be named a coach of the year.

Goldman led Jesuit to a Class 5A state title and 31-1 record. The Tigers beat Plantation American Heritage 79-58 in the championship game for their first title since 1984.
