After Academy of the Holy Names won the Class 2A, District 8 title, coach Bill Shaffer said his girls had their eyes on two school relay records that needed to be broken.

With senior Paige Russell leading the way, the Jaguars delivered. Russell and freshman Clare Fleming, the anchor for both races, helped Holy Names take first in the 200- and 400-yard freestyle relays at the Class 2A, Region 3 meet with times of 1:40.85 and 3:37.67, respectively, as AHN went on to win the region title.

Russell also finished second in the 200 free (1:55.41) and 100 butterfly (58.84), and both times were good enough to put her within the top-eight qualifiers at the upcoming Class 2A state meet.
