Florida High School Athletic Association spokesman Corey Sobers has confirmed to the Times that it is reviewing the findings of an internal investigation conducted by Tampa Catholic.

Sobers didn't specify which Crusaders program, or programs, was the subject of the internal probe. Sobers said TC is not being investigated by the FHSAA.

TC principal Thomas Reidy, out of his office on a senior retreat Friday, couldn't immediately be reached for comment.

The probe is not believed to be connected to either of the Crusaders girls sports programs that recently had coaching changes. Girls basketball coach Nancy Kroll, who led her team to consecutive state titles, confirmed last week she had been dismissed; softball coach Vernon Tatum suddenly resigned earlier this month, nine games into the season.

Reached by phone, head football coach Bob Henriquez said the investigation doesn't involve football recruiting allegations and referred further comment to the athletic director and principal.

We'll have more on this story as it develops.
