The Fivay boys basketball program earned its first win Saturday with a 34-32 victory over River Ridge. Making the win even more impressive? The Falcons had five only players at their disposal.
Fivay took advantage of a trio of 3-pointers in the closing seconds of the first three quarters. D.J. Brindley hit a trey as the first quarter ended, and Steven Wetzel hit one at the halftime buzzer. Brindley hoisted a last-second 3 at the end of the third quarter to spur the Falcons to victory.
Joe Ross led Fivay with 10 points, Anthony Perkins was the team’s rebounding leader, and Brandon Edwards had a key fourth-quarter block.
Fivay, a first-year school with no seniors and three juniors, lost 20 straight games to open the season.
