Fivay QB Eric Vitale has been medically cleared to play this week after breaking his right (throwing) hand during the preseason game, Vitale announced Tuesday afternoon via Twitter.

Vitale, who battled Tyler Degen for the starting job last year, started against Sunlake but broke his hand in the first half after hitting it on a helmet. Vitale, a 5-foot-10 junior, was in a cast for the last three weeks. Degen started in his place but will likely move back to receiver with Vitale’s return.

Fivay (1-1) faces Anclote (0-2) on Friday in the district opener for both teams.
