Fivay's Manion, Land O'Lakes' Irwin make college choices

Fivay senior Cole Manion signed to wrestle at Campbellsville University last week.

Manion (120) was a first-team all-North Suncoast wrestler. He finished the year 47-12 and placed fifth in the Class 2A state meet. Manion was the Sunshine Athletic Conference champion in his weight class and also won a district title.

Also last week, Land O’Lakes LB Colin Irwin orally committed to Huntingdon (Ala.) College, Gators coach Brian Wachtel said.

Irwin, a 6-foot, 190-pound senior, ranked second on the team with 116 tackles (17 for a loss) last fall. He also had 1.5 sacks and an interception.

Oral commitments are non-binding until recruits sign letters of intent during their senior years.
