TAMPA — Fifty-six points. Three Division I commitments. One non-district victory.
Not a bad week for Alonso (3-2), which rolled to victory against Spoto (0-5).
The Ravens got three touchdowns and 117 yards rushing on nine carries by Missouri commit Ish Witter. Left tackle Gary Brown (Georgia Tech commit) and wide receiver Derius Davis (Florida Atlantic) helped Alonso gain 374 yards. The defense forced four turnovers, and produced a touchdown as did the special teams.
“That’s a great week for your program and for these kids,” Alonso coach Brian Emanuel said. “We’ve got a big district game against Bloomingdale (Friday), so this is a good tuneup win. These kids really needed that.”
Alonso quarterback Chris Oladokun threw for 150 of his 164 yards in the first half. He finished with two touchdown passes on an 11-for-18 night.
Defensive back Roosevelt Lawrence had an interception and scored on a 48-yard punt return. Lineman Chris Samonte returned a fumble for a TD, and Jeremy Martinez and Derrick Walker also got turnovers for Alonso.
