SEFFNER — Noah Johnson connected with Austin Gallon on touchdown passes of 52 and 32 yards as Armwood defeated King 28-0 to clinch the Class 6A, District 8 title.

“We didn’t win the district title last year so it’s  nice to get it back,” Hawks coach Sean Callahan said.

Johnson started the scoring for Armwood (8-0, 7-0) with a 2-yard  run in the first quarter. The junior  finished 15-for-23 for 238 yards.

King (5-4,  2-4) was without starting quarterback Darian Wright, and the Lions were unable to move the ball effectively against the Hawks defense, led by Byron Cowart.

The junior showed why he is one of the most highly recruited  players in the area with a sack, forced fumble and fumble recovery.

“He’s starting to get it. I don’t think anyone can block him,” said Callahan.

Armwood was also effective on special teams, as sophomore Trevor Laurent returned a punt 48 yards in the third quarter to put the Hawks up 21-0.

Armwood travels to Chamberlain next week while King hosts Leto.
