SEFFNER — Tyler Scott made a successful debut as Armwood’s starting quarterback, withstanding constant pressure from Blake’s pass rush in a 32-6 victory Friday night.

“I thought the kid handled the heat well,” coach Sean Callahan said of Scott, who was 7-for-18 for 123 yards passing and ran 17 times for 24 yards and a score.

The Armwood defense put 16 points on the scoreboard after surrendering a touchdown on Blake’s first drive.
Yellow Jackets quarterback Kristian Robinson completed six of his first seven passes for 125 yards, capping the drive with a  1-yard toss to Shavar Manuel.

As Armwood’s defense settled in, Robinson’s accuracy faded and he finished the half 3-for-12 for 20 yards and an interception.
Robinson started the second half by completing his first four passes, but the Armwood forced and recovered two fumbles. Aaron

Covington returned one 55 yards for a touchdown. Kyle Gibson later intercepted Robinson and returned it 45 yards for a touchdown. The Hawks added a safety.

“Our defense got back into it right away. Defense is a lot about attitude,” Callahan said.
