SEFFNER — Armwood geared up for the playoffs by capping a 10-0 regular season with a dominating 40-6 win over Strawberry Crest on Friday night.

The Hawks put up all of their points in the first half, scoring on six — five touchdowns and a field goal — of their eight possessions. Only a lost fumble and change of possession on downs in the waning seconds did not result in points.

“It was a good win,” said Armwood coach Sean Callahan, who emptied his bench while a running clock was used in the second half. “We were able to play a lot of kids, and we’re healthy going into the playoffs. We feel pretty good about ourselves.”

Noah Johnson passed for 121 yards and a touchdown, and added 58 rushing yards, including a 14-yard touchdown run to lead the Hawks’ offense. Teammate Caylan Holloway rushed for a game-high 62 yards and a touchdown.

Greg Newton and Trevor Laurent added scoring runs as the Hawks used nine ballcarriers in the course of the game. That group included three quarterbacks, with backups Tyler Scott and Darrian McNeal spelling Johnson.

Strawberry Crest (6-4), which finished its first winning season, got on the scoreboard midway through the fourth quarter when backup quarterback James Everrett connected with Jordan Smith on a 75-yard touchdown pass.
