The Berkeley Prep special teams swarmed Middleton to set up a number of short scores, and quarterback Brad Mayes threw four TD. The Tigers, under new coach Jeff George, fumbled on the first play and Buc running back Gordon Stetson carried it in for an 8-yard TD on the next play to put Berkeley Prep ahead 7-0 just 17 seconds into the game
After scoring only twice last season, Stetson added two more touchdowns, one on a free kick return after a Bo Peek safety, and the other on a 35-yard touchdown catch-and-run via Mayes, to finish the game with three.
The Bucs led 23-0 after the first quarter, and 44-0 at halftime. Mayes threw three touchdown passes in the second quarter, finding Stetson, Mathis and Addison Grams.
Berkeley Prep emptied its bench in the second half. Middleton scored on 90-yard touchdown pass on the last play of the game.
