BRANDON — The Brandon Eagles aren’t interested in scoring style points. Their offense isn’t flashy and high-scoring. They just stick to what they do best; run the football, and try and limit the other team’s ability to do the same.

Brandon (2-3) did both as the Eagles held on to defeat Chamberlain (3-2) 14-6 at home. The Eagles ran the ball 40 times, racking up first down after first down,  allowing the offense to dominate tempo and time of possession.

“We’re not real glamorous” coach Dean Eychner said. “We’re going to run the football and play tough defense. We knew it was going to be a physical game and our team responded. Hats off to our defense.”

Brandon came out of the gates quickly, scoring on their opening drive. Running back, Trevor Raymond added a rushing touchdown to put the Eagles up 14-0.

Chamberlain quickly responded with when senior athlete Dakari Highsmith broke for a 60-yard touchdown. But aside from that play, the Chief offense was non-existent as the Eagles clamped down and held the tricky Chamberlain running game in check.
