The host Crusaders relied on their young backfield to run away with a season-opening win.

Dontell Green scored on runs 27 and 6 yards as Canterbury went ahead 14-6 at the half. Green also returned an interception 60 yards for touchdown, and Sammy Faucette scored on a 60-yard run in the second half.

“We’ve got a pretty veteran group on the offensive line and our young guys in the backfield showed some promise,” Canterbury coach Bill Jones said. “I think we’re going to surprise some people.”

Keswick’s Parker Holland threw for 240 yards and two touchdowns, including a 65-yarder to Angel Ramos and a 95-yarder Jacob Bouvier.
