ST. PETERSBURG — In a game that saw rain extend halftime to more than an hour, Dunedin had two big defensive plays in the fourth quarter to edge Gibbs.

Tramaine Batten put Dunedin ahead 14-12 with his 5-yard run. On their final two possessions, the Gladiators turned the ball over. On what looked to be a run-option play, Robert Hedgeman nabbed the interception at the Dunedin 30. Then Sam Miller intercepted Patric Jones to seal the Falcons' win.

"It's hard to throw on us," Dunedin coach Max Smith said.

In Gibbs' third possession of the second half, Quincy Turner ran 61 yards down the left sideline for a 6-0 lead. A 26-yard TD pass from Mack Benson to Stancio Howard and Shaquille Dixon's conversion run put Dunedin up 8-6. Jarquez President's 80-yard kickoff return put Gibbs back up by four.
